Fitness and Health In 2025 By Ally Williams
Who am I?
My name is Ally (insta @fitmumscoach) and I’m a busy working mum of 2 girls, Savannah (7) and Arabella (3). As a fitness coach, I’m deeply passionate about helping busy working mums reclaim their health and confidence. I understand the unique challenges they face and create tailored plans that fit seamlessly into their hectic lives.
As we head into a new year, my first tip is to manage the overwhelm - we’ve put everything into Christmas and now it’s back to a normal routine. Additionally, don’t get lulled into instagram influencers selling quick fixing potions/programme. The most sustainable option is this: eat less, move more. Simples.
Food: Map out your weekly meals and shop accordingly. It’ll remove the stress of what to cook and help you to avoid the easy option of using Careem. Guilty as charged. Carbs are our friends so please don’t remove those from your daily food intake. How else will you have enough energy for work and the kids!? Each meal should have a lean source of protein, carbs, fats and veggies.
Here are some simple ideas to get you started:
⁃ Salmon, rice, roasted veggies.
⁃ Beef patties, ‘fries’ in the airfryer, broccoli.
⁃ Mixed bean chilli, rice, sprinkle of cheese.
I should interject here to say quantities will be different depending on your current goal and body composition.
Training: you don’t have to get a gym membership but having that environment to escape to is empowering. Find a way to move your body which you love so exercise doesn’t become a chore: running, swimming, weight training, Hyrox, yoga…
Steps: not entirely sure where 10,000 steps came from but again, it’s not always feasible or an appropriate target. Usually do 5000? Aim for 6000. Usually do 6000? Aim for 7000. Embed that habit and it becomes easier.
Maternal mental health: juggling it all is a big ask and can often result in stagnation. Get enough sleep, stay hydrated and find a routine which suits you. Try to not set goals which are too outrageous if you are only just getting started… been there, done that, felt defeated and went backwards #mumlife
If you want to learn more about looking after yourself, follow my page as I’m not a 22 year old pretending to understand what it’s like to be a mum… I’m living it! Solo btw whilst my family are back in the uk!
2025: the year of health, happiness and love.
